Evergreen Fun Park near Park Rapids, Minnesota

When we went up north to stay at Sleeping Fawn Resort near Park Rapids, we took part of a day to explore the area.  After a hearty breakfast at Rapid River Logging Camp, we spent some time watching the remote controlled-airplanes at the annual Park Rapids Fun Fly, where we had fun watching the antics of the RC planes.

Then we surprised the kids with an unplanned stop for some fun at Evergreen Fun Park.  This amusement park is located on Hwy 71 between Park Rapids and Itasca State Park, making it a good location for vacationing families who like to mini-golf, ride go-karts, or try other funpark amusements.

Evergreen’s activities are set up on a per-ticket basis, or you can buy a wristband.  We had some coupons that we’d found in a local publication for a mini-golf discount, and bought a coupon book to share for the rest of our pursuits.

Our whole family tackled the miniature golf course, which was not too easy, but not too hard, and had the benefit of enough slope so that if your ball was close to the target, it usually went in.  This made it more fun and less frustrating for the younger kids.

Then we divided up the remaining tickets and let the kids choose what they wanted to do.  One chose a go-kart drive and said it was a lot of fun even though he had to stick to the child-size course due to his height.

One chose the climbing wall and asked her dad to go with her.  They both thought it was fun, and since the park wasn’t busy, the staff let them have a couple of extra tries at it.

They all liked mining for jewels; some used all their coupons on a big bag while the others only got a small bag to sift through.

While they looked for their colored rocks, I perused the gift shop and treated myself to a piece of fudge.  The gift store contains nice things and it wasn’t really a kid-friendly place.

Other attractions include a batting page, water-balloon fight area, bumper boats, lazer tag, a bounce house, an outdoor maze, and a small train ride.

The parking lot is large enough to be friendly for RVs, and there are concessions available for those who want a snack while at the park.  For those who are looking for some family fun while in the Park Rapids area, Evergreen Fun Park allows you to spend as much or as little time and money as you wish.

We took our family to the Evergreen Fun Park this past summer. The kids absolutely loved it. There was plenty to do for everyone. We have already talked about returning there next summer since we had so much fun.
