Have You Heard About I_Blog?
Many bloggers have heard of the big blogging conferences: BlogHer, Type A Mom, and so on. The problem for midwesterners with these conferences is that they’re usually held far from the heartland. It’s hard enough to sneak away for a conference, but to add airfare to the mix usually is a deal-killer for me.
The I_Blog Conference was started last year as a way for Midwest bloggers to connect with each other and learn some tricks of the trade. I found it to be informative and well-organized, with just enough fun mixed in to make it a nice getaway. I’ve been to a lot of conferences, and with many I came home thinking that I hadn’t really learned much that was new. With I_Blog, I was able to put something to use from every session I attended.
I_Blog is back, and it’s just a few weeks away. Held at the beautiful Hotel Pattee in Perry, Iowa (just northwest of Des Moines), the conference runs from November 5-7.
Can’t attend all three days? There are options for attending what you can, when you can.
Not a seasoned blogger? Don’t worry there’s information that’s excellent for beginners. Even if you’re not a blogger yet, but have thought about blogging, this is a great place to be, because you’ll get hints and tips for getting off to a good start. Not even thinking of blogging? There are topics that you can use even if you’re not a blogger!
The sessions this year are varied in topic so you can pick and choose which ones interest you the most. Session topics include:
- Mobile Technology (I’ve heard we’ll get to play with some of the new Verizon phones and such)
- Protecting Your Computer
- Overcoming Writer’s Block
- Taking Beautiful Photographs
- Getting Sponsors
- Ad Networks
- Video Blogging
- and more
Need a weekend getaway? You’ll be staying at the beautiful (and I mean absolutely beautiful) Hotel Pattee, where each room is uniquely decorated and the public spaces are charming and cozy. Last year I stayed in the Marching Band Room, and it was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Check out the bowling alley in the hotel’s basement, and enjoy the Iowa wine and beer social on Friday night. All of the blogging information aside, I’m looking forward to a few days of R&R in this beautiful venue.
Tickets for I_Blog are still available, so make your plans today. I’ll be there. Will you?
(Lest you wonder, I’m not getting any compensation or perks for writing about this conference. If you do happen to buy tickets through the link just above, though, I will get a small commission. My reason for writing this post is that I really enjoyed last year’s I_Blog and am excited to return this year. I hope you’ll consider attending.)
