Mount Horeb Mustard Museum in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin

There are museums dedicated to all sorts of different topics, and I’m all for a unique-themed museum, so when we were in the vicinity of the Mount Horeb Mustard Museum, I made sure we stopped in.  It’s not that I’m a huge mustard fan, it’s just that it sounded like a pretty cool place to check out.

The mustard museum is yellow.  Very yellow.  It doesn’t take itself very seriously, and it warns you upon entering that you should have a sense of humor if you’re stepping foot inside.  Shirts advertising “Poupon U” are prominently displayed.  The soap dispenser in the restroom is a mustard bottle.  And did I mention that it’s very yellow?

The place is divided into two rooms.  One is the museum, which has a wall of jarred mustards organized by production location, a case of dry mustard tins, and various mustard memorabilia and history displays.  The other is the gift shop, which offers samples, gift sets, and a wide variety of mustard products, as well as mustard souvenirs.

Depending on your level of mustard interest, you may or may not spend a lot of time at the Mount Horeb Mustard Museum, but it’s worth getting off the expressway and driving through this little town to check it out.  While you’re driving, try to spot some of the trolls that are placed along the main street from one end of town to the other, dubbed the “trollway.”

Where’s the picture of the trolls? Good to know that there is a whole museum dedicated to this important topic…LOL!

I did drive-by photos of the trolls and none of them turned out. :-( We usually didn’t spot them until it was too late. They were spread out so too far to walk, but hard to spot while driving.
