North Almont, ND
Just north of Sims and not too far from Curlew stands what’s left of North Almont, ND.
As a farmer’s daughter and a farmer’s wife, I have a special place in my heart for old grain elevators, but this is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen.

What a beautiful shot! What a beautiful view for a picnic or a reading session!
lovely, lovely photo. i love old farm buildings. thanks!
Old farm buildings are neat to shoot. I can spend hours shooting one barn or old farmhouse.
Beautiful! I’m glad you told me what it was. Being a city girl from a foreign country, I wouldn’t have known otherwise.
Now that is an amazing shot. It so captures everything about the place! The solitude, the farmer’s way of life, and tranquility.
Sad news: The railroad felt that the old elevators were a safety hazard and needed to be destroyed. They were demolished last week. It was a sad day for Almont and New Salem residents as those elevators stood as a sentinel on the railroad for so many years.
Oh, that is sad news. I hate hearing stories like that.
I’m glad Linda had a chance to take this photo and share it with us, though.
