Fish for Free in MN State Parks
We went camping this weekend at a state park on a lake, so my husband dutifully purchased our fishing licenses and got our poles ready so the kids could try some fishing.
When we got to the park, we learned that a new law went into effect on July 1, and this is a great one! Minnesota residents can now fish without a license in most state parks. The lowdown is on the Minnesota State Parks website, but basically, you can fish from the shore without a license in most Minnesota state parks.
For those who want to take their kids fishing, or try out the fishing experience, it can now be done without a license. Not that a fishing license is a great expense, but every little bit counts, doesn’t it? This seems like a great way to draw people to Minnesota’s beautiful state parks (you’ll still need a vehicle day pass or annual pass to enter) and encourage more people to enjoy fishing.
Thank you, Minnesota legislature, for the free fishing!
