Historic Forestville near Preston, MN
Things are still up in the air regarding the budget of the Minnesota Historical Society for the coming fiscal year. This weekend, we visited Historic Forestville near Preston, MN, which is one of the sites initially slated for possible closure. When I inquired about the current status, our guide simple said, “I don’t know. We just don’t know.” She feared that they might not know their future until late June, which would make planning for their annual July 4th celebration quite difficult.
That being said, we enjoyed our trip to Forestville. We had a lovely Sunday afternoon and got their just in time for the final tour of the day, which left at 4:00. The kids were excited to feed the chickens and mow the lawn as they did last time, and my husband was happy that he got to come along for this visit.
I described the Historic Forestville tour in a previous post, so I’ll just include a few new photos this time around.
We still have a few places on our list of “to see before they might close.” Hopefully things will work out and these sites will continue to be open to the public.
