Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
One of the places we had been told not to miss in Philadelphia was Reading Terminal Market, so when the fire alarm sounded at the Liberty Visitor Center and they evacuated the building, we headed down the street.
Reading Terminal Market is an interesting mix of shops, stands, and restaurants. Here people buy organic and specialty food, flowers, gifts, and meals. It’s a bustling place, and it was great for my kids to see the mix of people and products available.
We were glad that we didn’t have a stroller, though, and that we had enough hands for all the kids, because it was a busy place, full of people who knew where they were going and what they were looking for. We tried our best to stay out of the way.
We had already been seated to eat at a crowded restaurant when we noticed their cash-only policy and had to leave (thankfully before ordering). Instead, we managed a mix of different foods in more of a food-court-type area, and found a pressed penny machine there as well. Hubby tried some cheesesteak and the rest of us munched on various goodies.
Reading Terminal Market is a nice change from the historic Philadelphia sites, and it’s a great place to let kids see a variety of sellers and items for sale.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I love taking family vacations.
