Independence Visitor Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The Independence Visitor Center was our first stop in the historic area of Philadelphia. Upon advice from a local resident, we parked in the garage under the visitor center and then went upstairs to get our tickets for Independence Hall. Near the ticket desk is the place to get National Park passport stamps for several Philadelphia locations, as well as Junior Ranger guides.
The Independence Visitor Center also has a local information desk and ticket areas for purchasing tours of the city and/or historical area. On the other end of the building are restrooms, a cafe, and a gift shop.
During the day, we were in and out of the visitor center several times, and even had some excitement when the fire alarms go off. (Our kids are now experienced at swiftly but calmly exiting a public building; fortunately, it was a false alarm.)
If you’re visiting the historic area of Philadephia, the Independence Visitor Center should be your first stop for tickets and information.
