Independence Hall West Wing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
After touring Independence Hall, visitors are welcome to stop in the “West Wing” before leaving the secure area. The West Wing showcases several historical documents. If your kids are using the Junior Ranger guides, there’s a page in the guide about the West Wing.
The room is dimly lit in order to preserve the documents, and a park ranger is available to answer questions. We found the ranger to be knowledgeable and interesting to listen to.
In the West Wing, we saw a copy of the Declaration of Independence similar to the one we stood in line for hours to see last spring at the Minnesota History Center, as well as other important papers from our nation’s history.
