I’ll admit, I’ve been keeping something from you.  There’s a great new family-travel site available, kind of a tripadvisor just for families.  It’s called Trekaroo.  The reason I haven’t shared it with you before is that they only have a handful of states represented right now.  I wanted to wait until all 50 states were represented before I gave them my official thumbs-up.

Now they’re getting close.  They’re accepting reviews from people who’ve been-there-done-that in all 50 states.  And for the next week and a half, they’re offering prizes for helping to build up their database, by invitation only.  You’re in luck, though, because they said I could post the invitation here so my readers could take advantage of it.

I’ve been doing my best; I’m only 37 reviews away from earning my first-ever camcorder, one of those little Flip cameras all the bloggers are talking about.  I’ve written reviews of museums and historic sites and fun places we’ve visited in Minnesota and anywhere else we’ve been in recent memory.

The problem is this:  they won’t “unlock” Minnesota and the other new states until several people have reviewed some of the same sites.  I guess they don’t want people to think that I’m the only one who’s found fun in Minnesota.  And rightly so.  Thus, until more people write about Minnesota, it will remain grayed out on the Trekaroo map.

So, dear readers, will you help unlock Minnesota or Illinois or any other state where you’ve found family fun?  Can you think of 10 fun places you’ve been, and write 10 quick reviews of them, earning $10 for yourself?  Or can you try to beat me to one of the big prizes?

I’ll admit I’m a little selfish; if I’m going to write reviews I’d like them to be seen by the masses.    But I also want to see the other great places people have found, so I have another resource for finding our next adventure.

I’ll write more about Trekaroo when the other states are activated, but for now, I’ve got reviews to write!
