Train Track in Middle of Street, Dresden, Ohio

Train track in middle of street
I’m sure this is done in other places, but it’s not something we see every day. This was, I believe, an actual railroad track, not a trolley line or something similar.

Note:  I’ve received some nice comments about the quality of this photo or the angle of the shot. Dare I confess that I simply rolled down the window while Hubby was driving and took a quick shot with my point-and-shoot?  Thanks for the comments nonetheless!

But which side is the wrong side of the tracks?!

I like the way you skewed the angle a bit…makes it feel surreal.

Here in Texas there are train tracks EVERYWHERE, but I haven’t seen anything quite like that!

It’s interesting that they left the tracks in. There are places around here where there were tracks like that, but the cities have pulled them out to “beautify” and make a little money scrapping the metal.

We have train tracks crossing streets, but I don’t know about having one in the middle of the street. Interesting photo.

Very cool.. I’ve seen that in really old spots of some towns/cities.

I love the perspective in this photo. Great shot!

Thanks for your comment on my picture. My sweet mother-in-law actually took all of our engagement photos back in 2003. I think she did a great job!

There’s something about traintracks that really give a place character. Great shot!

I’ve seen tracks like that where the buildings have gone up around them and eventually they pull the tracks out. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the train stop outside your door (but very, very noisy!)

Ha! I got a great photo like that once too, this fall when we drove by a gorgeous field of sunflowers backed by trees in full autumn colors on the Romantic Road in Germany. No one believed it was snapped like that.

Nice one! Sometimes we just get lucky, eh?

Wow! What a funny place to put train tracks – it must have been incredibly dangerous too…

That’s one of the best out-the-window shots I’ve seen in awhile! Bravo!

Sometimes the best shots are those accidental or quick grab shots. That’s one of the beauties of digital cameras..you’re not afraid to take a grab shot for fear of wasting film.
    Nice sho.

Great shot! We have a train track running down the middle of the road in our downtown. It scares the heck out of me everytime I drive on the road…I am waiting for a train to come up behing me!

I live in Dresden and these tracks are still used. The train haul coal and do go slowly. I say the guy that goes through at 2:00 a.m. blows the whistle long and loud to say he is up so everyone else should be to.

By the way, I live on the West side of the tracks so of course that is the right side. lol

Peg, thanks for your comment about the train tracks in Dresden. I love some of the unique things found in small towns. The area around Dresden is beautiful!

@Mary – They “left the tracks in” because the tracks are still in daily use.
