Knuckleheads Family Entertainment Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI
After being snowed in at our Wisconsin Dells hotel for a while, it stopped snowing and the roads were cleared, so we decided to venture out for the afternoon. As we drove around the downtown area, we realized that not much was open and not many people were around. This worked to our advantage, however; when we ate at Famous Dave’s we were the only ones in the restaurant and got a lot of attention from our server.
We mentioned that we were looking for something fun to do in the afternoon, and she mentioned Knuckleheads. The big theme parks would be really crowded and expensive, she said. She continued on to say that Knuckleheads is expensive, too, except for one thing: They have a huge climbing structure where kids can play as long as they want for $3.00.
We decided to give it a try. Having kids expend energy is one of our favorite vacation things to do. It was also convenient that Knuckleheads is adjacent to the outlet mall, so I took our youngest shopping for a while and Hubby took the older kids to climb and play.
The climber isn’t the only thing at Knuckleheads. There’s all manner of arcade-type games, bowling, even a little roller coaster ride. Also in the building is a restaurant that can be accessed from the arcade area or from outdoors.
Our server was right. We got a lot of mileage for the $3/kid play-structure admission. (They didn’t even charge Hubby to go in and play with the kids.) The kids had a blast and didn’t even seem to notice that they were missing out on all the other fun in the building.
Recommendations from local residents are usually right on target, and this was no exception. To stay away from the crowds and expense of the big theme parks, Knuckleheads was right on target.

The next time you’re visiting the Dells, you should consider staying at the Wilderness, Kalahari, or Great Wolf Lodge. All three have similar soft play structures that are free for hotel guests.

Sounds like you had a great time!!! She is right, next time stay at one of the bigger hotels. I dont think you mentioned where you stayed. Were going to the Wilderness next week. We love it there. There is 3 (yes three) indoor waterparks plus a indoor dry play area. They can climb around and play with foam balls. Plus now they have a 3d mini golf area, besides the lazer tag and rock climbing. Knuckleheads is really fun, but kinda expensive. We had a hard time there last year cause it was me, my husband, my brother-in-law, my son (8) and daughter(2). We figured we would spend the whole afternoon there and they have little cards that you put money on and then you just use them on all of the rides and games. After I spent all that money putting credit on the card, they sent us off to the arcade area. Only to find out that my daughter was too little to go on any rides….I asked if my son could go on the rides with her, and they told me that he was too big. GREAT so now we have all of this credit and nothing to do. Its a fun place though , hope you had fun…
