Winter Carnival Puppet Show and Minnesota History Center
After the Global Hotdish Variety Show at the Minnesota History Center, we headed up to the MN 150 exhibit to see the puppet show put on by “King Boreas” and “Vulcan” of St. Paul Winter Carnival fame. This entertaining show gave a synopsis of the history of the Winter Carnival, in addition to a background on mythology and weather traditions.
Presented by Circus Minimus Puppetry, the show was very well-written and entertaining for both the children and adults in the audience. After the show, the puppetteers posed for photos and answered questions that the kids had, as well as showing them the puppets close-up.
After the puppet show, we explored the MN 150 exhibit. This time, the kids’ favorites were the music area, where they could listen to a variety of music important in the state’s history, and the Greyhound Bus.
Then the kids begged to go to Grainland, where we spent the rest of the time until the museum closed. Grainland is a large climber for kids (and adults) which showcases the importance of agriculture in Minnesota.
A visit to the Minnesota History Center is always a treat for our family; the exhibits there are educational and interactive, and the kids enjoy it as much as we do.

Hiya!
Thanks for coming to our show. If you’re back in the neighborhood, beginning Feb. 8 (after we’re done with the 2nd weekend of Winter Carnival shows at the History Center) we’ll be performing 2 other shows every Sunday at the History Center through March. We’ll alternate between MINNESOTA AHA! (about great MN inventions) and WHAT MAKES MINNESOTA MINNESOTA?
(in which Vulcan & Boreas return– this time in a spaceship).
Come on down!
