I had a contract job in Dublin last year and on my first day at work I saw this…I get into the office and ask about it…almost nobody knew the history…It is like they pretend there is not 109 phallic shaped stone corn ears just down the road…hillarious

Isnt’ that great?! We’ve come to love our funky “Field of Corn with Osage Orange Trees” in Dublin, Ohio! It’s most definitely a local landmark. It was created by Columbus artist Malcolm Cochran in 1994–and is part of the Dublin Arts Council’s Art-in-Public-Places series. It includes 109 ears of “human size” concrete corn (all between 5 and 6 ft tall). It’s gained national attention from tourists, visitors and media (think “Food Channel!”) It’s even been the site of a wedding or two.

As I mentioned, there is a series of these works … so, if you like this one, be sure to come back and touch the face of a local legend–when you visit the 12 ft. high limestone tribute to local legend “Leatherlips” (among others). By the way, Historic Dublin is home to our Visitor Center–with plenty of free brochures, maps, and info on fun local things to do. (Don’t miss “Shawan Falls” in warmer weather.
