    Hi,

I am the administrative assistant/coordinator at the Hall, and I received a postcard from Minnemom and an invitation to visit the site and read about your visit to our attraction. It took a while for me to find it, but I was pleasantly surprised to read all the other information about so many places. I could really relate to the Cruise thing, as we’ve been on 4 and I’m STILL learning, but you hit the nail on the head there. I just wanted to comment a little on your visit here at the Hall. I’m glad your only complaint was about the price, however, we aren’t as high as some other museums. Everyone thinks we are getting money from the NHL, or other venues, but in actuality, we run primarily on our gate receipts and sales from the gift shop. We get a few donations, but of course not even close to what is needed. We have even more “hands on” interactive displays since you visited, which I think that helps alot, and we have three major fundraisers a year to help with operational costs. We have a golf tournament in the summer, a college game in the winter, and also another tournament where all proceeds are given to the Hall. They’ve been having the tournament for 25 years now, and have raised over $100,000 for the Hall. If it weren’t for those donations, it would be tough. We’re always trying to come up with new ideas and fun things for kids, and we hope you come and visit us again sometime. Please call ahead, and we will try and accomodate you with discount coupons. Thank you for visiting us, we appreciate your business. Sincerely, Michelle Putzel, Eveleth, Minnesota.

Michelle, thanks for your comment regarding the Hockey Hall and your explanation of the price structure. I know it’s hard for small museums to remain afloat, and it takes dedicated staff and volunteers. We did enjoy your interactive areas, and will stop in again if we’re in the area!
