Blue Bunny Ice Cream Capital of the World in LeMars, IA
A weekend trip to Iowa offered a yummy stop in LeMars. The self-proclaimed “Ice Cream Capital of the World” because more ice cream is made in LeMars than anywhere else, Blue Bunny has created a nice visitor center and museum.
The museum, which has some of the equipment used by the Wells brothers in their early Blue Bunny days, has two film areas that tell the history of the company, and an assembly-line model that tells the story of how the ice cream is made. At the museum, you’ll learn how the company got its name, how many cows are milked each day to make all the ice cream in LeMars, the temperature of the storage freezers, and more.
When you’ve completed the self-guided tour, you exit through the gift shop and into an ice cream parlor of delicious concoctions. The kids had fun choosing their flavors and then looking at the old photos in the parlor area.
The Blue Bunny Ice Cream Capital of the World is a delicious stop to make if you’re near LeMars. It’s fun to learn about the history and manufacture of Blue Bunny ice cream, and a dip of ice cream in the parlor on the way out is a great way to end the tour.

This definitely looks like our kind of roadside stop! We both love ice cream
Looks like a great trip. I found you through the stumble-a-thon.

We are thinking about visiting your facility on our way home from Texas. I am looking forward to the visit but wonder why you don’t have your website with more updated information than what I have seen? Current things going on with persons who have testimonials to the visit would be nice to read. Your old giveaway information is long past………….what now?
Mrs. Pearson, thanks for your comment on my blog.
I was a visitor who went to the Ice Cream Capital with my family, and as such, the information on this site reflects my visit. I apologize that the giveaway links are old; the program that I use to pull in “related” sites doesn’t always discriminate very well.
To learn more about the Ice Cream Capital visitor center, please visit them directly: http://www.wellsdairy.com/VisitorCenter.aspx If you have more questions, their phone number is included in the site.
Thanks for visiting Travels with Children. I hope you have a good trip!
