Photo Friday: Chipmunk at Gooseberry Falls

My kids notice sooooo much more than I do, and they were quick to point out this little guy while we were walking the trails at Minnesota’s Gooseberry Falls State Park.

Very nice picture! Chipmunks are so much fun to watch. They’re so busy!.

At our last house, we would sit at the kitchen table and watch deer, chipmunks, foxes and even the occasional snake minding their own business right outside our window. At our current house, the most exotic creature we see is the neighbor’s tabby that likes to hop our fence and stare at us through the windows that look into our family room. How rude!

Love it, my daughter would see that too… not me. Kids amaze me.

Why is it that kids can spot things like this, and we just walk by them?? Cute photo!

I am a sucker for small, furry, cute critters. Sadly we don’t have chipmunks where I live, just truckloads of squirrels (some of which are jet black and are rumored to have come from India, who knows?)

    What a beautiful autumn-ish photo.

I LOVE Gooseberry Falls! You are making me miss Minnesota… I always do in the fall. We lived there for 10 years, and I would move back tomorrow… Pat the chipmunks for me!

Oh this is too cute. It’s so great that kids notice things that the rest of us tend to ignore. Great pic!

    Cute picture!

Northern Minnesota is one of the places we’re discussing going to over the next couple of years. We were last up there about 10 years ago, and I remember there was some sort of construction around Gooseberry Falls at that time. I’d love to go back there…and check out Split Rock Lighthouse again…I loved taking photos at those two spots!

Very cute. It’s so good that you can take the picture. We just met a chipmunk ourselves yesterday when my daughter went to her playdate. They found a baby chipmunk and now her friend has adopted that baby.

My five year-old walked in right as I clicked here and she about lost her mind over the cutest chipmunk EVER.

What a beautiful shot (and BTW, I’m loving the fact that your pictures are bigger w/the new layout)

We don’t have chipmunks either, but we have big maple trees & cherry trees, so a few squirrels live in our yard. I love sitting with the kids and watching them jump from the balcony to a tree and back again.

@jamie My mom claims that the black squirrels in the bay area escaped from a lab at Stanford. I don’t know whether that’s true, but they certainly weren’t around when I was growing up.

This is such a fabulous pictures. I know that my own Little Chick, great defender of all small creatures, would enjoy it - I’ll try to remember to show him.

When my children remember not to be talking loudly, they do a good job of pointing out wildlife while we are walking in the woods.
