Word-of-mouth--how could I have forgotten that? It's nice to get ideas and tips from people who have been to interesting places!

Those are some wonderful ideas. I actually get guide books from my state and visit the visitor's bureau website to get ideas for around here. We also have found great ideas just on our local news sites for things to do.

I have found the best source is moms in our town though. My mom's group have given me tons of great ideas for things to do around here and it was invaluable when we first moved to the area to have those friends to offer their tour guide expertise :)

Fabulous topic!

Technology makes it a lot easier to find things, doesn't it? Thanks for the feedback.

Traveling for our summer camp, we often bring our two girls (1.5 and 5.5) along. We've found tha the local "events paper" is a good resource, but also a few quick web searches often reveal plenty of excellent options... and lately, having an iPhone along for the ride has really made it easy. Thanks!
